- een wereldoorlog: totale confrontatie op wereldvlak

- immens aantal doden en enorme vernietiging

- start van het nucleaire tijdperk

 de overwinnaars – V.S. & S.U. - zouden zich achteraf tegen elkaar keren in de K.O.

• Hitlers strategie: het Stufenplan: the Stufenplan called for three stages. In the first stage,
there would be massive military build-up, the overthrowing of the “shackles” of the Treaty of

Versailles, and the forming of alliances with Fascist Italy and the British Empire. The

second stage was to comprise a series of fast, lighting wars in conjunction with Italy and

Britain against France and whatever of her allies in Eastern Europe such as

Czechoslovakia, Poland, Romania, and Yugoslavia that chose to stand by her. The third

stage was to comprise a war to obliterate what Hitler considered to the “Judo-Bolshevik”
