Dicisign: produces a singular clear meaning

Argument: Produces something general, a general conclusion.

Adequate communication is only possible by drawing conclusions out of as many signs possible.

Object: represents an object on the basis of a potential resemblance

but without physical relation.

p.e. a photo or a drawing

Index: represents an object on the basis of a physical relation

p.e. smoke as a sign of the object fire

windvaan as the sign of the object wind

Symbol: represents an object on the basis of a general rule

p.e. ja of nee knikken, wetenschappelijke literatuur

Qualisign: signs that are what they are on the basis of a potential resemblance

p.e. red embodied in rose

Sinsign: signs that are what they are on the basis of their existence or something singular

p.e. a scream

Legisign: signs tahat are what they are on the basis of virtue of a general law, a rule or a habit

p.e. language or a red card in football

Tekens zijn niet complete puur. Neem als voorbeeld de uitspraak “au” of “ai” waarbij hetzelfde wordt bedoeld (uiting van pijn) maar het teken toch een andere vorm heeft.
